From this emerges this family.

There's no telling yet as to where this family went. But my interest is the marriage of John Bennett to Margery Lamberd. John has long been listed as the father of Robert Bennett, the progenitor of the Wiveliscombe Bennetts. However, now that I look for the evidence I find none. Without it, it's clear that the birth year of each man was presumed based on assumptions of various relationships. I suspect John had been adopted by a researcher in an attempt to tie the Wiveliscombe family into the Berkshire Bennetts. In fact, no substantiative record has been found to show the connection. Based on the births of his children, Robert was probably born about 1540. I see no reason to believe John was his father or that John had married Margery late in life. If anything, and until evidence comes forward, it's probably best to assume they themselves were a young couple at their marriage.
