All their children's baptisms are recorded at the Church of St Andrews in Wiveliscombe. Thomas Bennett (1603-1608). His burial is recorded in the church at Wiveliscombe as "Thomas son of Thomas." His father's baptism and burials are recorded at the same church. Richard Bennett (1608-1675) He married Mrs Mary Ann Utie in Virginia where he became governor. The patriarch, Robert Bennett, married his wife in Wiveliscombe on 10 July 1558. Registrations for baptism, marriage, burial began in England in 1538. There's little chance his birth will be uncovered. | (c1586-by1641) He married Mrs Alice Pierce in Virginia and had son Richard. Thomas's birth year is known from the Virginia colony 1624 Census of the Living. A list of Thomas Bennetts born in England 1586-1588 is found at Thomas Bennetts Christened in England about 1588 These are the Blackwater Bennetts and the only lineage of this bunch to have had their Y-DNA sequenced. They are of haplogroup R1b-BY172987. | (c1575-poss1627) of Milverton He married Anstice Tompson alias Spicer in Milverton in 1599. They had three sons. All their children were born in Milverton. Robert Bennett (1609-) John Bennet (1610-) William Bennett (1613-) Thomas is probably of one of these two baptisms at Milverton. Thomas on 21 April 1579 to Richard Bennett and Thomas on 1 May 1575 to William. He was probably buried at the same place on 5 October 1627. John (1624-) Richard (1626-) Phillip (1627-) Although Thomas married in Wiveliscombe, a baptismal record hasn't been found there. However, he could be one of the two Thomases born in Milverton in the 1570s. If so, he would have been an older husband to Agnes. |
